My HiFi Journey
I have been playing or being played by Hi Fi non-stop since around 1968.
I started with a tube amp which I bought from my friend for $60- in or about 1968. My friend promised to garantee it for one month. However, it was out of order in the fifth week, just over the garantee period. I was very upset. Eventually I dismantled it and used some of the parts to rebuild another one. I obtained the necessary electronic knowledge from a physis teacher of my school. I built several tube amps in the following few years until I graduated in 1971 and started to work.
My first LP player was a 2-pole motor "Lucky" turntable. It costed me $51- plus $5- for the base. I bought it from Aplius Street. Thereafter I had changed about 20 turntables. The last one was Kenwood 600 (?), direct drive installed with a SME 3009 plus Shure V15 III (?). I sold all my LPs and the turntable in 1983 and bought a Philips CD300 for $4,750 (?). Since then I have changed about 15 - 20 sets of CD players/components.
I started to collect LPs and bought back LP equipments again in 1995.
